Herbal First Aid

I love treating first aid situations.  This week I treated a swollen, infected toe and helped my neighbor with his newly subluxed shoulder.  Over the  year I have treated 3rd degree burns, cut off finger tips, coughs, sore throats, a swollen eye lid, and adrenal stress.

My son, 17,  returned home from camp with an open wound on his second toe.  He had stopped the bleeding, but the toe presented swollen, red, and painful to touch.  We started with a soak in Epsom salt and a few drops of tea tree essential oil.  Followed by a drop on tea tree essential oil on the sore and a healthy swabbing of St. John’s Wort oil on the toe.  Internally I gave him 1200 mg of Tumeric and 1100 mg of Goldenseal.  We repeated the oil on his toe and the internal herbs that evening.  The next morning the redness was gone and pain was decreased.  By the third morning the toe was back to normal with a fine scab.  Treatment was stopped as the remedy was now more annoying than the toe.  He went for a 3 mile run without pain.  Success.
